I think I was meant to be in my prime during the 1940's. I don't understand why this epic style of dancing does not exist today. I mean, it does, but it's not praised like it was during it's time. To be quite honest, this is the best dancing around. Fred Astaire was a king on the dance floor and he'd give you a zoot suit riot. I cannot, for the life of me, stop watching this old hollywood swing dance clip from the film, "You Were Never Lovelier" starring Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth. What's even more amazing is whoever created this youtube clip, paired it with my one of my favorite Elvis Presley's songs, "Bossa Nova Baby" not to mention it's REMIXED! Can I get an amen? I love how Fred & Rita dance with such a nonchalant swag and ease. They are so cool to me. I am not even kidding. I love them and their moves. I must take swing dance lessons. I must. I will drag the zoo in with me and we shall jive away. I remember watching the movie "Swing Kids" when I was little and I was just in the zone whenever they'd dance away. What a fun decade. I also remember how lucky I got when I was a freshmen in High School and at church the youth were able to learn a few swing dance moves, and all of my friends and I became obsessed and from then on out, at every stake dance, we'd jump and jive. No, we were never any good, but the fun we had was unreal. I could jive away my whole entire life. I think I'm going to starting in 2013, that is, if we don't die on Friday : DOOMS DAY. rut-row.

a zoot suit riot of a wedding.
Tuesday, November 20, 2012
four words to describe the night of my wedding: a zoot suit riot. it was out of control. and that's how I had planned for it to be. With my kind of people, we like to party and have a riot and I think we did a good job of creating one. Barefoot on the cobblestone ready to twist and ankle or two we were moving and grooving, swinging and swooning and having a feel good time. I didn't want the night to end, even though I knew the week ahead of me was going to be in the Caribbean. I was just having too much fun. I was in my zone surrounded by all of the people I love.
the charleston, with a bit of swag
Wednesday, January 18, 2012
entertainment for today. my favorite dance, "the charleston" taken place at its finest with a touch of todays "swag." really, i couldn't love this clip anymore than i already do. it's brilliant. it deserves to be put to the test and memorized. if i had a time machine, i'd go back to the roaring twenties and be a flapper and get my charleston a-goin. you best believe it.
hopefully i'll get some photos in this weekend. my goal has yet to explode with the picture mode. i need to stay away from that instagram and stay true to the original camera. sundance film festival is taking place this weekend in park city. i'll be attending and im hoping to get a little star struck. i knew there was something good to come from january. snow is finally kicking it. i thought i'd get lucky and mother nature would pass the plow over and save it for next year. i guess she just can't help herself. lets pray this doesnt last till may, because from im told, "april showers bring may flowers" and im ready to wear my sundresses. half way through the week! more power to you all!

Ash & Casey's reception was such a fun night. The food was to die for and the dancing was off the chain. We had our friend Ben Truman perform his song he wrote for Casey & Ash, "I Want You There". Made us all shed a tear.
check it out.

Honestly, nothing else can make you feel better than dancing. I think it runs in my family/friends. There is never a time where we are not dancing- and it feels great.
any age, anywhere, we dance, we dance.

Makes My Heart Sing.

Can I just say I love dancing? My friends and I are addicting and if there is music, then we are there with our feet. And if there are lyrics, then we are a-hollering at the top of our lungs without a care in the world. We had the best time dancing at this Mansion Party and were proud to say that most of our song requests were played and were off the chain such as : Lady Marmalade, Spice Girls Wannabe, Ice Ice Baby, I Need a Hero & Footloose. We thoroughly enjoy ourselves. Maybe a little too much.
